Wearables right? All sorts of shizzle we can wear, pin, look through:
- Smartwatches: Wrist-worn devices that combine fitness tracking with smartphone notifications, calls, GPS, and apps
- Fitness Trackers & Bands: Lightweight bands focused on step counting, activity minutes, and basic health metrics
- Smart Rings: Discreet, screenless rings that track sleep stages, recovery, heart rate variability (HRV), and body temperature
- Heart Rate & Medical Monitors: Chest straps, armbands, or portable ECGs for clinical-grade or high-accuracy workout tracking
- Food related 'pins': Things you can 'pin' into your arm to monitor various bobs and bits related to eating
- Smart Glasses & AR/VR Headsets: Eyewear featuring cameras, open-ear audio, real-time translation, or virtual displays
- Smart Clothing & Biosensors: Garments with embedded sensors for posture, muscle strain, or biometrics, plus continuous glucose monitors (CGMs).
Apart from those people who are medically advised to wear some devices, why do we need all this nonsense? Do I care that my sleep score is 'low'? Will I worry less if my resting heart rate is 'normal'? Do I panic when my watch screams at me that I've fallen, when all I've done is shake a tea towel free of crumbs?
Perhaps we need a new type of wearable, that alerts us when we attempt to pop another on? Or that buzzes when we're about to break wind? Or delivers an electric shock when someone talks about wearables, reminding you not to beat them?
